This is not an icon, this plate (fumie) was used by the Japanese, but not for worship, but quite the opposite.
Metal plates with Christ or the Virgin Mary served as a kind of lie detector: they were used to identify Christians in the 17th and 19th centuries. Suspects were asked to stand on the image.
