I never did care much for debating. If I disagree with someone I just move to agree to disagree. I'm sure that's probably a shortcoming of mine.

@Lilu get acquainted with logical and argument fallacies like straw man and non sequitur and you'll improve greatly when you can call others out on them/not use them yourself

my main problem with that is a quote that I heard, I think from Benjamine Franklin, that went something like " in all my years of participating and witnessing heated discussions, I have never once witnessed a man convince another man over from the mindset that he entered the conversion with logical and reasoned debate. " I've found that to be true in my life as well.

When I talk to people I try to feel out if they are genuinely seeking truth or if they are just trying to win the argument. If they are trying to win I just GTFO because it seems like a waste of time to talk with them.

But I am definately not very competitive.
