This has been a big part of my argument from the beginning. Unless they can implicate Trump in the hack itself, meaning that he knew about it or helped to encourage it, there's really nothing illegal there. According to Politico, Hillary herself received "assistance" from Ukrainian government connected individuals and all sorts of foreign nationals, including opposition research.

Dems know they have nothing substantive, they're still hoping for either a Color Revolution or a midterm miracle so they can impeach him. Impeachment has nothing to do w/ legality or facts, just whether they have enough votes or not

But this makes the investigation a massive waste of time. Even if they can prove that Trump himself called Putin and asked for opposition research and Putin gleefully offered it, without mentioning directly that he hacked the DNC, that wouldn't be a crime. So unless they can prove highly questionable parts of the pissgate dossier, they don't have anything.

Its not a waste from Dem perspective though, cuz as long as its active they can make up anything they want, just like they've been doing.

Was googling stuff on russia hacking a few hours ago, getting articles from 4+ months ago. Headlines from all major papers screaming "Top Officials anonymously confirm that [some shit thats been debunked in last 2 weeks]"

Well yeah, they act as if verifying any part of the pissgate dossier means that the rest has been verified. "Well, it turns out some conversation between two people in Russia took place on the date specified inn the dossier, but we dont know what they were talking about or even if it had anything to do with Trump." This will come with the headline, "Officials corroborate Trump Russia dossier."
