Look, pretending that the car thing is a hoax is a bad idea.
Just say, "well, I don't agree with what he did, but after the events of the day and the violence coming from the other side, I can see this as a crime of passion. It's not like he just ran these people down on some random day. Shit was heated for hours before this went down. The police did everything they could to make sure this turned into a powder kegg.
