I took a class in law school on the 1A, and during the 50s or 60s its protection of journos took a big dive precisely because SCOTUS recognized that a commy revolt was possible. the commie revolts in E europe (czech? others?) were basically against the popular will because the TV/news were controlled by commies & just told people they'd been conquered.
