"According to the prevailing science, individuals of most species can't recognize their reflections as themselves. The only known exceptions are humans, some great apes, and possibly dolphins, elephants, and magpies—all animals with high intelligence"

2018-07-06 03:56:04 UTC

female apes tend to use tools more than male apes

2018-07-06 03:56:58 UTC

lol

2018-07-06 03:57:14 UTC

Corvids are also proven to fashion the tools from observation of other birds of their species

2018-07-06 03:58:27 UTC

We should attempt to recreat the 'Stoned Ape' hypothesis. Maybe it's unethical, but I'm sure China will greenlight it.

2018-07-06 03:58:48 UTC

^^^

2018-07-06 03:58:49 UTC

Octopuses* or Octopodes* in plural (since it is from greek)

2018-07-06 04:03:18 UTC

lol

2018-07-06 04:03:59 UTC

there is a line between genius and craziness

2018-07-06 04:04:10 UTC

Here's a study that could be done: Two troops of apes, and you put new possible tools in their environment. One group gets shrooms, the other doesn't, and then you see how they use the new tools in the environment

2018-07-06 04:04:55 UTC

You'd need to swap some apes around to be sure that it was not a fluke

2018-07-06 04:05:19 UTC

Yeah, for sure

2018-07-06 04:05:32 UTC

Add a previously stoned one into a new troop

2018-07-06 04:05:56 UTC

Ethical concerns may be had

2018-07-06 04:06:08 UTC

But I would want to know the results

2018-07-06 04:06:10 UTC

Shush, we're going to do this in China
