Tier 1 Frenchies are fucking terrible because they are actual 1940 tanks having to face AFVs from 1942 (hello Marder) or other 1940 tanks with ahistorical loadouts (PzIVF1 with HC spam)

Soon as they get their autoloaders and oscilatting turrets they can be pretty good, especially around T4

BR compression is bad for French T1

even in sim, where BR doesn't matter as much as specific vehicle sets, they face off against tanks that can murk them in one shot

Some French guns can't even pen Pz IIIs or IVs frontally

and the reload times are painfully slow by comparison

You can get out of T1 pretty fast

And then use US tanks instead 💯

German and Soviet trees are generally the safest and most reliable way to get anywhere until you have a better idea of wtf is going on

Brits usually have shitty armour but good reload speeds

French = advanced tier?

and neutral steering on nearly everything

well, they're just a PITA initially, but later on you get high-pen guns with autoloaders

But that's still a specific playstyle
because once the magazine is empty, it takes like 60 seconds to reload

And their armour is generally pretty crappy on the oscillating turrets

their TD line is pretty strong though, armour-wise

M4 cops shit but it can do what any other med can do

M18 is murderous in the right hands

.50cals are fucking flamethrowers against aircraft

And most guns get a solid shot round, an APHE shell and a tungsten shot too

Just expect to be playing a lot of different M4s

Try to avoid the M4A2, it's fucking terrible

Pretty sure it's the diesel version and it's gutless since Gaijin doesn't seem to model torque and the diesel version doesn't have as much horsepower as the other variants
