I'm trying to think of an Isometric RPG to start with

The *main* contenders for my christmas list is Fallout vs. Baldur's Gate.

I'll accept any suggestions, as they will be potential choices on wheel decide

Baldur's Gate is probably more playable, but Fallout is probably a bit more ground breaking when it comes to narrative design.

@Mickey D Balders gate is a more sound game than fallout. You can get 1, 2, and dlc rather cheep and they have been remastered. Other good choices are Path of Exile, and pathfinder kingmaker. The last is newest and yea has some bugs but is getting constant support.

I know you can get both on steam with the expansion for like 40 or 50 iirc

So it is connected story wise as i thought

Also, get Planescape: Torment as well.

It’s Chris Avellone the game, and remains probably his best work.
