Just listen to styxhexenhammer666 talk a bit about the misconceptions of Charles Manson.

2017-11-23 13:13:22 UTC

Honestly, watching people get upset over Manson is just sad. He's the generational boogyman which each generation finds as it's symbol of evil. Yet no one really knows about the circumstances surrounding the incident, they just know "he was a hippy cult leader!" "Helter Skelter!" "He has a swastica in his forehead!" "He's a mass murderer!"

Sweden savage

2017-11-23 13:14:34 UTC

Honestly, it's painful every time I listen to people who basically buy into a cultural attitude towards this poor guy who's been scapegoated all his life.

2017-11-23 13:14:49 UTC

Who the fuck is that guy

2017-11-23 13:14:54 UTC

2017-11-23 13:15:53 UTC

Charles Manson isn't a fucking victim
The dude lead a cult which killed a pregnant woman, that's all it takes for me to hope the guy burns in hell
Get the fuck out of here with your "he was a good goy" crap

2017-11-23 13:16:06 UTC

He wasn't a good person

2017-11-23 13:16:45 UTC

I only say good things about the dead for example: Good he is dead

2017-11-23 13:17:05 UTC

World is overpopulated. Issue solved. Checkmate, atheists

2017-11-23 13:17:33 UTC

Charles Manson was just petty thief who forged some checks, stole some cars, pimped women, and dealt drugs. He got out of prison in the height of the free love era and found some disenfranchised youth to start a co-op with on a ranch. He supposedly killed a bunch of people using his brainwashed followers. However, the accounts surrounding the murders were vague and unclear, and there's speculation that the altercation was actually over drugs, and Manson's own defense attorney actually went out to a party with the prosecutor vinscent buliosci after the prosecution.

2017-11-23 13:17:44 UTC

Sigh

2017-11-23 13:17:52 UTC

And btw Happy Indian genocide day to all the Yanks here

2017-11-23 13:19:21 UTC

Only the most satanic of satans.

2017-11-23 13:21:13 UTC

I swear the UK is becoming a parody

2017-11-23 13:22:08 UTC

That's another thing that bothers me though too, is the demonization of people with mental health issues. If Manson was really a murderer, let's be honest, people who murder other people aren't "normal" by the standards of what society considers normal. I really don't like how people demonize people as if they weren't just biological organisms, and they were some sort of physical manifestation of "evil" which is just a nonsense fantasy word used to describe whatever the collective considers undesirable. I think murder is wrong, but I don't look at murderers as if they were bad people, because they have something in their brain which makes them the way they are, and we have something in our brains which makes us the way we are which is why we don't murder anyone. At least, I hope no one here murders people.

2017-11-23 13:24:00 UTC

Wut

2017-11-23 13:24:20 UTC

Unhinged people are a treath to society

2017-11-23 13:24:40 UTC

Murderers are in prison because they also endanger others

2017-11-23 13:24:50 UTC

"Without agency you cannot condem" is how i sum up Mittens paragraph

2017-11-23 13:25:00 UTC

But you have to admit that there's something fundamentally different in their brains from our brains which determines each of our disparate actions.

2017-11-23 13:25:08 UTC

Pretty much, Dan.

2017-11-23 13:25:24 UTC

Except, I think it's more complicated than that. Everyone does have a different brain which effects their behavior in different ways.

2017-11-23 13:25:34 UTC

I disagree but i understand form where the argument comes from

2017-11-23 13:25:45 UTC

And they need to keep themselfs in check

2017-11-23 13:25:53 UTC

Even if you wanted to add the concept of free will into it, you would have to admit that some people would be more inclined to choose different behaviors than we are inclined to include disparate ones.

2017-11-23 13:25:55 UTC

@✿ Mittens ✿ sure, but that's why punishment exists. To reshape those brains to getting back to "murder is wrong"

2017-11-23 13:26:11 UTC

That's not how the united states prison system words though.

2017-11-23 13:26:32 UTC

That's because the us prison system doesnt work. Period

2017-11-23 13:26:58 UTC

Poor implementation =/= bad concept

2017-11-23 13:27:10 UTC

I mean you have more people in prison than the population of European counties

2017-11-23 13:27:59 UTC

Look at a prison system like Norway's they have a system of rehabilitation, they treat prisoners with dignity and comfort, and they have a much lower recidivism rate. The united states, we basically create convicts and hardened criminals in our prison system. Listen to this one interview with a former NYPD police officer who went to prison and had his entire perspective of the prison system changed. Listen to musicians like Peter Steele talk about how prison made him a better criminal. There's evidence just in our statistics in our country, we have a much higher recidivism rate, because we treat our prisons like basically factory farms.
