This is a perfect example of why this type of politics is so despised outside its own bubble.
This is punching down. This is calling out somebody who is disadvantaged (they avoid saying ‘unemployed’, but they say he ‘hates his job’ implying a low wage, unskilled occupation, especially in contrast to the other character who is presented as a young professional), likely poor (due to the job and implied lack of education) socially isolated (explicitly stated).
And then they say that he is ‘blaming the world for his problems’. Obviously, he should take responsibility for being a poor, low skilled, uneducated social outcast. How progressive!
Feminism/nu progressivism isn’t keeping poor men down, but it is spitting on them from above for not participating in their elitist circlejerk.
Some men are openly hateful towards women on the internet, and I do not excuse that behaviour. But many men are only hateful of ‘feminists’, or some other political group who they perceive as out of touch and classist. This video, as well as many other pieces of progressive commentary, lump the two groups together and basically piss on frustrated poor men who are excluded from the conversation for not adhering to wealthy, inner city cultural principles.
In exactly the same way that men need to check their male privilege, these women need to check their fucking heads. If you’re a privately educated white woman living in inner city Melbourne with a supportive family and private financial safety net, you’re over-privileged. You’re likely significantly more overprivileged than the men you despise. That should give you pause for your targeted class bass attacks on people that you justified solely through political tribalism.```
