You have to go back several decades to a literal world war?
I mean you could also reference any random Thursday somewhere in Africa
Or many Asian countries
Ww2 just seems to be the era-du-jour lately so referencing it is pretty valid
And you do not consider this intellectually dishonest?
I mean I think I see the disconnect you're inferring.
Government firing squads vs rando shooters
Is that what you're referring to?
That, as well as the fact that it's several decades ago.
But I'm glad that you can see the flaw.
I'll take being allowed to own guns with the risk of randos any day though
With that said though, I do believe in the reports I read about in the past it seems there was more shooting per capita in europe than in america, but I know that some terrorist attacks was factored in, so I don't know exactly how far away it is.
I was just was afraid your position on gun violence was so frail you'd have to resort to flawed arguement to strengthen your platform. (Not uncommon mind you)
Really? I mean....with Chicago and Detroit I figured we'd be way over Europe
I don't know to be honest.
Most of my friends (americans) realise there's a problem with gun violence but can not really come up with a solution which is about right for the situation as a whole.
But then you have the defensive gun owners who needs to justify it to others.
In fairness I don't know these defensive gun owners personally I only see them write articles or get butthurt in comment sections of various articles of videos.
But I do have some very gun happy people that I play ArmA3 with who doesn't just shrug it all off.
The problem is most gun crimes are committed with illegally obtained guns, whether via theft, smuggling, or unlawful manufacture.
The people most affected by laws aimed at criminals end up being the lawful owners. Especially when the proposed legislation is completely inept, ineffectual, and worst of all, written maliciously by people who know nothing about guns
What would be root cause of all this crime then?
I don't own a gun myself, but to kind of understand their points better you have to think of it in different terms. Imagine if you owned a truck, for example. Legally purchased, you got your license, etc.
Then, following one of these truck attacks, everybody started calling for trucks to be taken away, or restricted, or trying to ban you from buying accessories for your truck (like different tires, rims, hubcaps, lights, etc.). You'd feel pretty wrongly victimized, since you didn't do anything. You followed the law, you did everything right, and now you're being indirectly punished for something somebody else did, legally-obtained truck or not.
Drugs etc
And how have things detoriated to this extend then?
Something happened in the 80's and 90's. Thug culture became the default and education was looked down on as "white people shit"
My cousin used to teach in New York City
The drugs are a problem
Mostly the laced stuff
She couldn't take it anymore because the kids hated having to go to school, constant arrests, drug possession, several times kids brought guns to school just because they had them and wanted to show off
I havent see a workable solution yet and banning guns will make gun owners only criminals
There is a demonization of education in those communities
On top of poor funding
Oh I have an idea
What do you say If the wellfare was tied to school atendeance?
One major boost would be to fund education far more
Oh boy
Well
The parents are the ones on welfare
You dont get your child to shcool no welfare for you
The kids are just there to boost income via welfare
And you wont get the welfare unless you educate them
I feel that might just cause them to abandon truant kids more than anything. They're already costing you money to raise, and now having them is a liability if they don't show up to school
