Eugenics is not really a conservative thing though.

2017-11-10 10:00:38 UTC

It's literally quite the opposite.

2017-11-10 10:09:13 UTC

Eh bad joke

2017-11-10 15:55:53 UTC

People don't realize that there are eugenic behaviors we all enact, if you consider eugenics with the widest lense possible.

2017-11-10 15:56:02 UTC

Not fucking your cousin is a eugenic behavior.

2017-11-10 15:56:39 UTC

😉

As far as who to pitch to to get the technology into use, that's a hard one. I'm no marketer so it's hard to say.

2017-11-10 15:59:32 UTC

I think it's less about who you pitch it to, regarding political temperament, if you pitch it right. "CRSPR has the potential to prevent this slew of genetic diseases" would be your main arugment I would think.

2017-11-10 16:00:29 UTC

Nobody wants their baby to be born with a funky disease.

2017-11-10 16:01:13 UTC

Or maybe they do.

2017-11-10 16:01:15 UTC

crspr would be interesting

2017-11-10 16:01:30 UTC

CRSPR has the potential to maximize your baby's funk.

2017-11-10 16:01:58 UTC

im trying to think of that movies about this

2017-11-10 16:02:38 UTC

So good

2017-11-10 16:03:01 UTC

have you seen this?

2017-11-10 16:03:59 UTC

no

2017-11-10 16:04:17 UTC

it is really relevant

2017-11-10 16:04:20 UTC

looks cool though

2017-11-10 16:04:31 UTC

I love me some good sci-fi

2017-11-10 16:04:37 UTC

2017-11-10 16:04:57 UTC

I should watch that again

2017-11-10 16:05:02 UTC

it is an amazing movie and great thought experiment

2017-11-10 16:05:19 UTC

I don't think it did super-well at the box office, but I think everyone who was around back then still remembers the name of the film

2017-11-10 16:14:19 UTC

I read that H.G. Wells was a eugenicist. I wonder what exactly his views were because there's such a range, all the way from scientific racism and utterly evil ideas all the way to commonly practiced and obviously wholesome ideas.

2017-11-10 16:14:52 UTC

But it seems most people just want to say all of eugenics is the obviously evil stuff

2017-11-10 16:14:58 UTC

Wells did seem like quite a pro-leviathan guy

2017-11-10 16:15:07 UTC

My english teacher a while back tried to say that all of eugenics was based in phrenology.

2017-11-10 16:15:18 UTC

which is profoundly ignorant of eugenics

2017-11-10 16:15:30 UTC

pro-leviathan?

2017-11-10 16:15:33 UTC

what's that?

2017-11-10 16:17:31 UTC

mm, I might have misused the term, gimme a sec to dig out the right book

2017-11-10 16:17:47 UTC

At the very least he was more a proponent of the benevolent dictator

2017-11-10 16:18:01 UTC

or a group of smart people making the decisions for everyone else

2017-11-10 16:18:06 UTC

(sounds familiar)

2017-11-10 16:19:26 UTC

*National Anthem of USSR plays*

2017-11-10 16:21:25 UTC

Weird to think he was a Fabian for a while

2017-11-10 16:21:36 UTC

Not so weird that he left them because they weren't imaginative enough for him

2017-11-10 16:22:06 UTC
