I would like to believe it's just being naive and not thinking critically enough. It strikes me more as he (and a lot of the other pedo-defenders I've seen) don't seem to understand that children just aren't mentally or emotionally capable of consenting, regardless of how much they feel it was okay once they're adults or how much they seem okay with it as children.
