and that is better than the state ideology how?

2018-12-24 20:54:51 UTC

Because the state ideology is half assed and you can see through it

2018-12-24 20:54:53 UTC

Most homeschooling I know of is due to religious extremism.

2018-12-24 20:55:44 UTC

How about decentralized public schools, and the teachers and curriculum need to be approved by the local community?

2018-12-24 20:55:55 UTC

Well

2018-12-24 20:56:05 UTC

yeah, but that will never happen

2018-12-24 20:56:10 UTC

which was kinda my point

2018-12-24 20:56:14 UTC

I kind of went to that

2018-12-24 20:56:21 UTC

It was a charter school

2018-12-24 20:56:47 UTC

the left can't stand that, it's really funny in a way

2018-12-24 20:57:00 UTC

Again I am skeptical of decentralization. My city and locale is just as nuts, if not moreso, than the centralized system.

2018-12-24 20:57:19 UTC

Which brings me to my point of, I dont see the US lasting another generation

2018-12-24 20:57:26 UTC

nah decentralization is the way to go

2018-12-24 20:57:37 UTC

Also charter schools are damaging funding for public schools. Which is a problem if you can't afford a charter school.

2018-12-24 20:57:46 UTC
2018-12-24 20:58:03 UTC

i'm not very optimistic either, but you never know what will happen @Fitzydog

2018-12-24 20:58:06 UTC

They usually operate at a lower cost than the public schools

2018-12-24 20:58:11 UTC

I come from a long line of soldiers and teachers. Fairly well versed on the subject.

2018-12-24 20:58:28 UTC

How low the operating cost is doesn't matter if you don't go there.

2018-12-24 20:58:46 UTC

Thomas Sowell speaks highly of charter schools

2018-12-24 20:58:58 UTC

It's not free, yet the government mandates that all children must attend school.

2018-12-24 20:58:59 UTC

They're usually under their budget, unlike the other ones

2018-12-24 20:59:10 UTC

Which frankly is BS

2018-12-24 20:59:28 UTC

"No child left behind" is a disaster.

2018-12-24 20:59:45 UTC

public schools are bad in general

2018-12-24 21:00:05 UTC

we learned the same thing in every grade

2018-12-24 21:00:22 UTC

Well yeah but if the government would let them run at the state level it would be so much better. Get those dumb ass policies out.

2018-12-24 21:00:46 UTC

If a kid won't learn, kick them out.

2018-12-24 21:01:09 UTC

if you say stuff like that, people will act as though you shot their grandma

2018-12-24 21:01:36 UTC

leftists are really emotional about any sort of change in that direction

2018-12-24 21:01:45 UTC

The charter schools here, are an offshoot of a single district, and they're funded with the per-student amount that their home district would have gotten, but it's diverted to the charter school

2018-12-24 21:01:46 UTC

Too bad.

2018-12-24 21:02:06 UTC

And yes, that's how it works everywhere

2018-12-24 21:02:19 UTC

That seems much better, I don't see the problem

2018-12-24 21:02:47 UTC

Issue is when poor neighborhoods have the state put many of their students in charter schools, taking the funding with them.

2018-12-24 21:03:32 UTC

Suddenly you can hardly afford textbooks let alone pay the teachers fairly

2018-12-24 21:03:49 UTC

how much good would it do if we just got rid of teachers unions?

2018-12-24 21:03:58 UTC

Bad idea.

2018-12-24 21:04:08 UTC

That sounds like a budgeting problem, not a charter school problem

2018-12-24 21:04:18 UTC

Fuck teachers unions

2018-12-24 21:04:28 UTC

Teachers are one of the most important professions because they groom the future. But get paid shit.
