For the sake of everyone who may come, let me explain without posting the publications because I don't want to exact the time it will take to look for them at the moment.
Tor reroutes your IP via encrypted networks, through various other countries, masking your location and entry path
entry path being the node you used to access the network
the difference between Tor and another VPN is that tor bounces you all over the place, making it nearly impossible to track you back to the origin point
A VPN can route you through another country via an encrypted network, but the encryption can be broken and you can be tracked back to the point of origin
