That's just from one tentacle of the police state, but good news nonetheless.

2017-02-02 22:20:17 UTC

Nice

2017-02-02 22:20:32 UTC

What kind of show is that

2017-02-02 22:23:05 UTC

It is a conservative talk radio show.

2017-02-02 22:23:20 UTC

I'll be on the air for roughly half a hour.

2017-02-02 23:09:00 UTC

Fuck yea dude I love conservatism

2017-02-02 23:10:11 UTC

Don't we all.

Antifa may have slashed my tires for this one

2017-02-04 03:09:24 UTC

I've got my long range acoustic device. It's called 12 gauge.

2017-02-04 18:28:56 UTC

Thank you Mr. Heimbach

2017-02-04 18:49:34 UTC

Of course

2017-02-04 18:49:40 UTC

so what are you goys up to this weekend?

2017-02-04 18:56:52 UTC

Trying to find a gun range that isn't closed.

2017-02-04 18:58:29 UTC

Same thing we do every night, Chairman. Try to take over the world

2017-02-04 19:01:07 UTC

@parrott You're the go-to guy for IT stuff, right?

2017-02-04 19:01:34 UTC

Yes. I'm the guy responsible for everything that's broken at any given moment.

2017-02-04 19:01:47 UTC

You got a HDD reccomendation for a simple 2 drive NAS?

2017-02-04 19:01:58 UTC

I'm not sure how much longer I can trust my laptop

2017-02-04 19:02:08 UTC

gonna run it in raid

2017-02-04 19:02:21 UTC

paranoid about losing data

2017-02-04 19:04:21 UTC

How "warm" is the storage?

2017-02-04 19:04:55 UTC

Like, are you going to be accessing and changing it routinely, or is it more for long-term storage?

2017-02-04 19:05:32 UTC

quite often. i wasn't sure if I should go with WD reds for longevity

2017-02-04 19:05:48 UTC

or just switch out drives more often every year or two

2017-02-04 19:07:11 UTC

I haven't kept up that well with what's on the market. I'd say one of the mature and affordable magnetic drives would be the way to go.

2017-02-04 19:07:16 UTC

Or...two...as it were.

2017-02-04 19:07:42 UTC

guess it doesn't matter so much. just getting another opinion

2017-02-04 19:10:00 UTC

Cool, nerd stuff.

2017-02-04 19:10:40 UTC

Avoid the SSDs. That's really all I got.

2017-02-04 19:13:46 UTC

SSDs are great and wonderful for one's day-to-day work, but the magnetic drives are the way to go in your particular context. Raid 1 with an affordable off-the-shelf non-fancy WD brand sounds like it would fit the bill.

2017-02-04 19:15:28 UTC

Just pony up for a decent UPS to go along with it that also protects the ethernet cable if the NAS isn't wireless.

The best drive in the world can't do shit if it's zapped or gets corrupted by a power outage. And configure your NAS to communicate wiht your UPS, so that when it runs out of juice, the NAS powers down gracefully rather than shitting the bed.

2017-02-04 19:22:42 UTC

Yeah, nerd shit.
