2020-02-05 17:56:40 UTC

Hail Grandpa Frost

2020-02-05 20:17:56 UTC

i need a new book to read

2020-02-05 20:18:22 UTC

just got done with tactics. which gives you argument strategies when talking about religion with people

2020-02-05 20:23:19 UTC

@Skellington what was the name of the book?

2020-02-05 20:24:23 UTC

its called tactics

2020-02-05 20:27:43 UTC

By Koukl?

2020-02-05 20:30:25 UTC

yes

2020-02-05 20:41:44 UTC

Now that I think about it I don't have any interesting book to recommend or at least one that I read recently. I need to fix that.

2020-02-05 20:43:15 UTC

Read the culture of critique

2020-02-05 20:43:25 UTC

<:lmao:419660938807869461>

2020-02-06 04:49:41 UTC

The entire series?

2020-02-06 04:54:03 UTC

no

2020-02-06 04:56:28 UTC

What did you think of Tactics? I read the summary. What was the most valuable take away that you learned?

2020-02-06 04:57:21 UTC

i think i might be a little bit to advanced for tactics

2020-02-06 04:57:37 UTC

its a great book to give to normies

2020-02-06 04:57:42 UTC

like a really great book to start out

2020-02-06 04:58:35 UTC

but when i was reading it it kind of told me what i already knew. but its always good to cement the basics and it had some insight. nothing big i could tell you but you know bits and pieces

2020-02-06 04:58:43 UTC

arguments i had not really thought of

2020-02-06 04:59:12 UTC

so yea its a good book

2020-02-06 04:59:17 UTC
2020-02-06 05:02:17 UTC

I assumed it would probably be a little basic for you. Like you said though, working on fundamental dialectics and rhetoric will always help. Heard you talking about Pathos, Logos, Ethos the other day and how you figured out Logos doesn't work on 'them'. That's an important evolution.

2020-02-06 05:41:12 UTC

Logos does work you just need to use it in tandem with the other appeals. different appeals take different priority I think

2020-02-06 05:41:43 UTC

When first approaching someone pathos opens them to consider talking to you

2020-02-06 05:41:59 UTC

And pointing out logical inconsistencies also helps

2020-02-06 05:42:10 UTC

But if you use pure logos

2020-02-06 05:42:26 UTC

It's unlikely to flip them

2020-02-06 05:42:45 UTC

If you debunk one of their claims so hard that even they admit that it's false

2020-02-06 05:42:57 UTC

It dosent change their core values

2020-02-06 05:43:23 UTC

Values are not built upon logic or facts

2020-02-06 05:43:57 UTC

Facts are interpreted through values and logic keeps those interpretations consistent

2020-02-06 06:21:41 UTC

That's all true

2020-02-06 06:23:07 UTC

Maybe you can help me figure out how to reach the willfully ignorant. The people who maybe already know they're wrong but are too stubborn to be willing to change.

2020-02-06 07:10:57 UTC

@Skellington Is there any hope for those that willingly choose the lie, because they want to believe the lie?

2020-02-06 12:47:30 UTC

AfD is cucked, just heard them go after jeremy corbyn for being antisemitic

2020-02-06 12:47:48 UTC

still better than the other parties but meh

2020-02-06 14:22:22 UTC

Not really

2020-02-06 14:22:59 UTC

Maybe an emotional appeal could work but probably not

2020-02-06 14:45:53 UTC

It's Germany. Even if they wanted they could not say he is right in that regard.

2020-02-06 15:02:07 UTC

I would never expect them to defend it, just dont attack someone for it, its the racist sexist homophobe tactic of the left, these are not conservative values
