Hail Grandpa Frost
i need a new book to read
just got done with tactics. which gives you argument strategies when talking about religion with people
@Skellington what was the name of the book?
its called tactics
By Koukl?
yes
Now that I think about it I don't have any interesting book to recommend or at least one that I read recently. I need to fix that.
Read the culture of critique
<:lmao:419660938807869461>
The entire series?
What did you think of Tactics? I read the summary. What was the most valuable take away that you learned?
i think i might be a little bit to advanced for tactics
its a great book to give to normies
like a really great book to start out
but when i was reading it it kind of told me what i already knew. but its always good to cement the basics and it had some insight. nothing big i could tell you but you know bits and pieces
arguments i had not really thought of
so yea its a good book
I assumed it would probably be a little basic for you. Like you said though, working on fundamental dialectics and rhetoric will always help. Heard you talking about Pathos, Logos, Ethos the other day and how you figured out Logos doesn't work on 'them'. That's an important evolution.
Logos does work you just need to use it in tandem with the other appeals. different appeals take different priority I think
When first approaching someone pathos opens them to consider talking to you
And pointing out logical inconsistencies also helps
But if you use pure logos
It's unlikely to flip them
If you debunk one of their claims so hard that even they admit that it's false
It dosent change their core values
Values are not built upon logic or facts
Facts are interpreted through values and logic keeps those interpretations consistent
That's all true
Maybe you can help me figure out how to reach the willfully ignorant. The people who maybe already know they're wrong but are too stubborn to be willing to change.
