maybe it would be best to set neo essentialism as a sort of post apocalyptic cyberpunk, or near apocalypse cyberpunk. this would give it a distinctive style separate from what already exists

a cyberpunk society after it has fallen

and the protagonists setting out to make a new society

a new tradition that values the essential human nature

you would have people picking through these devestated cities hiding from post human gangs that want to scavenge you for cybernetics. they are so alienated and deracinated from nature that they want to dehumanize themselves

Cyberpunk is a cool aesthetic, modernity is good at being cool, it fails at being beautiful however. I'm enjoying your ideas presented here. I think it would be particularly effective at implying reactionary themes just from the striving to revive some form of beauty and natural order in a post modernity world without it being blatant or hamfisted.
