2017-06-11 03:28:00 UTC
2017-06-11 04:12:31 UTC

why are there so many white people in shenzhen

2017-06-11 04:13:24 UTC

the air is like standing 1m away from a car exhaust

2017-06-11 05:14:22 UTC

are they expat or tourist

2017-06-11 05:25:15 UTC

both

2017-06-11 05:26:16 UTC

I think shenzhen has one of the highest white population in China

2017-06-11 11:11:14 UTC

Isnt shenzhen almost like Hong Kong?

2017-06-11 11:11:29 UTC

free economic zone so you can browse facebook, twitter, youtube etc?

2017-06-11 12:32:16 UTC

I thought that was only for gwailo <:thonk:288060975775612929>

2017-06-11 13:43:38 UTC

no

2017-06-11 13:43:53 UTC

shenzhen in the end is still china

2017-06-11 13:44:05 UTC

while hong kong found it's own identity

2017-06-11 13:45:11 UTC

if you go to lok ma chau, the border between hong kong and shenzhen you see the difference

2017-06-11 13:45:35 UTC

on one side there's massive skyscrapers and a big city feel

2017-06-11 13:45:54 UTC

and on the other side it's farm lands and green hills

2017-06-11 13:46:30 UTC

As a Cantonese speaker, do you feel that people are more civilised in one or the other? Don't know what to believe because HKers and mainlanders all talk shit about each other

2017-06-11 13:46:31 UTC

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

2017-06-11 13:47:04 UTC

actually, no, not the mainland as a whole

2017-06-11 13:47:07 UTC

I mean HK vs Shenzhen

2017-06-11 13:47:09 UTC

hk people seems higher class but they both havev a sense of arrogance to them

2017-06-11 13:48:18 UTC

I'm racists towards asians though

2017-06-11 13:48:35 UTC

I try not to be but I can't help it

2017-06-11 13:49:07 UTC

aren't you azn tho

2017-06-11 14:09:57 UTC

yes but my point still stand

2017-06-11 14:10:01 UTC

they fucking suck

2017-06-11 14:37:30 UTC

Nothing unusual about that

2017-06-11 14:42:55 UTC

Every Chinese teacher I ever knew as a kid would warn us about the dangers of being chinked

2017-06-11 14:45:06 UTC

@fruitloops.exe it's not mask worthy but it's like letting your car run while you're sealing yourself in your garage with it. But it's not too bad. Occasionally it'll feel super dirty on my lungs and throat and I get short of breath but I'm slowly getting used to it

2017-06-11 14:47:34 UTC

K, my friend is from Xian and based off her description of China I just kinda thought air was shit everywhere

2017-06-11 14:48:15 UTC

I remember this one teacher I had, he had whole lessons that was just like, "If you go to China, *touch nothing* - they will force you to buy it. If you see something in a store, it will be *three times* the listed price, because you are a tourist."

2017-06-11 14:48:15 UTC

But I guess that's more of a mega city thing

2017-06-11 14:52:10 UTC

Yeah the air was good when I went up to JiuZhai county to visit a Tibetan village. Very clean. But back here in Chengdu it's pretty bad. Not mask worthy. Beijing is mask worthy

2017-06-11 14:53:06 UTC

@Silent most of the time touch nothing otherwise they will expect you to buy it or you will cause a lot of trouble. But they don't jack up the prices for tourists. Or at least that has r happened to me. But they're fairly reasonable

2017-06-11 14:53:49 UTC

Luckily I just point to something and say dou shao Quan and they tell me how many chinko tokens I need and then I hand them cash and I don't say a word cuz I don't know too much Chinese

2017-06-11 14:54:22 UTC

*qian

2017-06-11 14:54:32 UTC

*tokens

2017-06-11 14:54:36 UTC

Damn autocorrect

2017-06-11 14:55:28 UTC

Are you staying in Chengdu the whole time or are you going out on more small trips

2017-06-11 14:57:25 UTC

Fair point, most Chinese are very cautious against other Chinese about getting chinked anyway

2017-06-11 16:32:33 UTC

lel i am also sorta racist against asians
