2017-08-28 01:03:28 UTC

most elaborate prank in Japanese history

2017-08-28 02:42:17 UTC

Japanese food is kinda overrated tbh

2017-08-28 02:43:02 UTC

Candy and snacks are great.

2017-08-28 02:43:50 UTC

Love the pickled plums, looking into getting a Japanese plum tree or two, shit is expensive in the states

2017-08-28 02:46:07 UTC

pickled plums?

2017-08-28 02:46:10 UTC

va mui?

2017-08-28 02:47:57 UTC

Umeboshi, know the Chinese have a version but the only ones near me are smoked and I'm not a fan of that.

2017-08-28 02:49:56 UTC

These are the vietnamese versions I'm familar with, there's a bunch of different flavors

2017-08-28 02:50:24 UTC

Yeah that's it. Don't have a significant Vietnamese population local so haven't had it

2017-08-28 02:55:01 UTC

Any places to recipes? Japanese ones seem to rely more on controlling the specific breed of plum and varying the salt. Some variety would be nice though this is assuming I manage to source a tree, the plums are like fifteen bucks a pound.

2017-08-28 02:57:30 UTC

I always bought them prepackaged, because eh, too lazy to make

2017-08-28 02:57:45 UTC

Where do you live that have plums so expensive?

2017-08-28 02:58:04 UTC

They're fairly hardy and they tend to produce more fruit in the family

2017-08-28 03:06:06 UTC

North East US, problem is almost no one grows it.

2017-08-28 03:06:19 UTC

Here's a recipe for one of the vietnamese versions, not in English:

Oh those will die with frost

2017-08-28 03:06:40 UTC

Prunus, Cherry trees etc are very sensitive motherfuckers

2017-08-28 03:07:06 UTC

I can get the gist with Google translate as long as they don't use some strange spice.

Even then I can just order online.

2017-08-28 03:09:10 UTC

Prunus/Cherry trees are absolutely beautiful

2017-08-28 03:09:27 UTC

I think the crop in DC survives the frost, so what do I know

2017-08-28 03:10:42 UTC

We used to have one in the front yard that died for whatever reason, and I almost want to just replant it
