I'm not a big fan of Elon, but his Rogan chat wasn't bad (if not a little boring when talking about some topics).

2018-10-19 00:58:02 UTC

Grudge matches are cringey in general

2018-10-19 00:58:21 UTC

@wolfman1911 basically this

2018-10-19 00:58:34 UTC

Can you give me a few links fleshing this out more though?

2018-10-19 00:59:47 UTC

I have a few friends who seem to lose their shit whenever I say something along similar lines (misty when they say he’s gonna get to Mars)

2018-10-19 01:00:21 UTC

I’m not a big fan and not exactly a critic, so it’s not a major interest, just annoying that it gets pushed as a solo effort

2018-10-19 01:05:08 UTC

That isn’t really the point. Elon doesn’t necessarily have any original ideas. The ‘hyperloop’ was conceived by some guy way earlier. A self landing rocket too. He sort of claims these ideas though.

2018-10-19 01:05:55 UTC

most of Tesla technology isn't even their own

2018-10-19 01:06:06 UTC

Yes, thunderfoot is cringey he is a standard belligerent atheist.

2018-10-19 01:07:02 UTC

@I Know a Fat Guy yes, that’s thunderfoot’s key point. The media fawns a over Elon for no real reason, except that he makes products that they idolize.

2018-10-19 01:07:14 UTC

So what you are saying is that he's basically the next steve jobs?

2018-10-19 01:07:26 UTC

no apple is worth something

2018-10-19 01:07:29 UTC

Lol. Pretty much.

2018-10-19 01:07:36 UTC

When Jobs was at the helm it was.

2018-10-19 01:08:04 UTC

Tesla May or may not become profitable. I hope they do, but I’m not holding out.

2018-10-19 01:08:25 UTC

Tesla's stock value is the same as BMW. BMW make 2million cars a year while tesla 30k

2018-10-19 01:08:56 UTC

The fact that his businesses all seem to focus on things that won't become affordable for the forseeable future could pretty well be the thing that makes the difference.

2018-10-19 01:08:56 UTC

Tesla has made more than that this year, but nowhere close to 2 million

2018-10-19 01:09:38 UTC

If he actually made consumer products like Apple does, he probably would be the next steve jobs.

2018-10-19 01:09:50 UTC

I think that electric vehicles will become profitable in the near future, but that doesn’t mean Tesla will survive.

2018-10-19 01:10:39 UTC

well some are profitable just not affordable for the common person

2018-10-19 01:11:56 UTC

My problem with the entire hybrid/electric car industry is like I said before, subsidies.

2018-10-19 01:12:25 UTC

I don’t think tesla is fully profitable at this point. Batteries should decrease in price a bunch this year, so cheaper EVs should be possible soon. I think EVs will be ready for prime time in 2020.

2018-10-19 01:12:26 UTC

Whatever happened to the days when making a good product was how you became profitable, rather than taking handouts from the government?

2018-10-19 01:12:58 UTC

But Elon promised Tesla would turn a profit this year.....

2018-10-19 01:13:01 UTC

Well, ICE cars have had subsidies too.

2018-10-19 01:13:19 UTC

Would Elon lie?

2018-10-19 01:13:43 UTC

Off-topic, but I _fucking hate_ BMW

2018-10-19 01:13:46 UTC

Elon consistently over promises

2018-10-19 01:14:04 UTC

Don’t blame you. They are over priced

2018-10-19 01:14:05 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat something which can’t keep going

2018-10-19 01:14:11 UTC

Elon motto....Over promise never deliver

2018-10-19 01:14:22 UTC

I love BMW

2018-10-19 01:15:08 UTC

@Deleted User yeah that’s generally true, but tesla eventually delivers. It usually takes a couple of years though.

2018-10-19 01:15:40 UTC

ok when will there be a profit? or break even?

2018-10-19 01:16:33 UTC

I don’t know. The enthusiasts say he’s profitable now, but all the media organizations who wish for it say otherwise. Hard to say.

2018-10-19 01:17:16 UTC

will know this quarter

2018-10-19 01:17:42 UTC

Yeah. That will be interesting.

2018-10-19 01:18:31 UTC

I’m actually starting to look for a new car too. I currently drive a 2008 Nissan Xterra - bad mpg. Lol

2018-10-19 01:21:22 UTC

@Deleted User what do you think about Kia?

2018-10-19 01:32:48 UTC

Kia has good mpg,, is all around affordable, and a good variety of styles depending on your needs
