i'd say, if you're on the more musical side of things, hd 600

if you want that tad more speed and analytical sound, he-400i

also hd 600 is a bit more warm where as the 400i sounds more coldish

also from what i've heard, the warmth in the mids section of hd 600 makes is special

while the speed of the 400i makes it more satisfying in the lows
