but the title says not

2017-09-21 10:52:02 UTC

its a bs ad

2017-09-21 10:52:06 UTC

i better steer clear to be safe

2017-09-21 10:52:10 UTC

hmmm

2017-09-21 10:52:24 UTC

the SD ones come in pink/green tho

2017-09-21 10:52:27 UTC

so im lead to believe that one is SD

2017-09-21 10:52:34 UTC

cos the pink.green is available as a colour choice

2017-09-21 10:52:36 UTC

it seems the 4x wasn't released with a mediakek though?

2017-09-21 10:53:20 UTC

wutttttt A57

2017-09-21 10:53:22 UTC

holy shit

2017-09-21 10:53:23 UTC

ncie

2017-09-21 10:53:25 UTC

yea the mediakek is named soemthin else

2017-09-21 10:53:39 UTC

anyways i found another ad thats shipped from AUS so ill get my new phone pretty soon

2017-09-21 10:53:47 UTC

this thing would make a great octoprint box tbh

2017-09-21 10:53:55 UTC

8 cores so clicing will be fairly fast

2017-09-21 10:54:01 UTC

What could you use one of those for?

2017-09-21 10:54:13 UTC

i'd run octoprint on it

2017-09-21 10:54:24 UTC

and drive my 3d printer with it instead of doing the sd shuffle

2017-09-21 10:54:29 UTC

That sounds nice

2017-09-21 10:54:47 UTC

if it had two ethernet ports i'd make it my ~~bitch~~ router

2017-09-21 10:54:55 UTC

i mean, granted, my 1700 will slice _way_ faster

2017-09-21 10:55:23 UTC

but then i have to take the sd card out of the reader, walk to 3d printer, put sd card in, menus of 3d printer, THEN print

2017-09-21 10:55:37 UTC

octoprint i just upload a file and it slices and pritns right there, with web interface

2017-09-21 10:55:41 UTC

and streaming video

2017-09-21 10:55:49 UTC

so i can print and monitor pritns from phone and everything

2017-09-21 10:55:51 UTC

I've been thinking of getting like, a thing to just run servers and services on

2017-09-21 10:56:11 UTC

No idea what to get though

2017-09-21 10:56:15 UTC

tbh an sbc isn't great for that unless you're wanting little dedicated boxes/clusters

2017-09-21 10:56:38 UTC

i have a fistful of em running a few web servers, reverse proxy, and dns

2017-09-21 10:56:41 UTC

and an irc bouncer

2017-09-21 10:56:47 UTC

That's exactly the stuff I want

2017-09-21 10:56:54 UTC

but if you wanna do anything serious just get a used r710 or dl380 off ebay tbh

2017-09-21 10:57:11 UTC

like $300 and way way more capable, esp. if you just virtualise everything

2017-09-21 10:57:39 UTC

they are actively bad for web servers if you have any significant amount of traffic

2017-09-21 10:57:51 UTC

Whoa, I don't need like an actual whole server

2017-09-21 10:57:51 UTC

mine are running a blog and a shitposty ytmnd-type site

2017-09-21 10:58:01 UTC

I'll just let the corporations own my data

2017-09-21 10:58:13 UTC

it's worth it if only for learning imo

2017-09-21 10:58:19 UTC

also having an actual vm host is nice

2017-09-21 10:58:57 UTC

you have to buy a lot less hardware if you can just virtualise most of your homelab, and honestly that's how a lot of shit in the real world is done anyway
