Andrew Carnegie wrote The Gospel of Wealth in the 1880s

ok interesting, never heard of this book

need to read it obviously

its actually not a bad book

its just crazy b/c the more and more I dig into our history I see the US as being totally fuked for SOO long and just getting worse and worse

encourages the wealthy to reinvest wealth back into society instead of holding it

yeah I know of him, but didn't know about the book

putting it on the list

the book was incredibly controversial

if anything it seems that christianity is much closer to core tenets of socialism that it is even close to capitalism

i was always had that thought in my head growing up but my neocon parents always washed it out

b/c socialism = communisms

but even in the late 19th century, there were already movements like the Pentecostals that equated poverty with punishment for sin

that sort of thinking spread as a way for the rich to justify keeping their riches
