The US already has a pretty strong commercial prototyping system internally. I doubt euros are better off going all in with china as a manufacturing 'partner' if they do at all given they can just use much higher quality EU resources.

It was already not worth it at all to buy a bucket full of screws from china with previous shipping rises. I doubt paying 2 cents more for screws will somehow kill anything that wouldnt be dead anyway.

Regardless there is a year to hammer out the details, I doubt it will end with shipping being that much higher given it is far more likely the chinese government will be more likely to subsidise thier shipping more than just giving up on the US market entirely.
