2017-11-11 18:16:45 UTC

Me.

2017-11-11 18:26:58 UTC

I've been listening to The Daily Traditionalist and I was curious about something. Heimbach talks about Orthodoxy and Nationalism. Western Europeans are typically Catholic or Protestant. I checked the Orthodox churches around here, and they're Greek, Russian, and Romanian. What church would a filthy Celt like me go to?

2017-11-11 18:28:36 UTC

An African mission because Celts aren't white

2017-11-11 18:29:25 UTC

(I merely jest psl no flame war thanks)

2017-11-11 18:32:48 UTC

You dont have to be of a certain group to go to a church.

2017-11-11 18:33:11 UTC

If theyre in america I'm sure theyre english speaking anyway

2017-11-11 18:36:00 UTC

2017-11-11 18:36:23 UTC

We have a single orthodox church in my city that just combines all of those. Ive been meaning to go

2017-11-11 18:39:04 UTC

We wuz kelts n shiet

2017-11-11 18:42:08 UTC

Well Christianity is Greek.

2017-11-11 18:42:16 UTC

The New Testament was written in Greek.

2017-11-11 18:42:37 UTC

Plato is essentially half of the fundamentals of Christianity. Christ as Logos.

2017-11-11 18:42:59 UTC

I don't know the traditions of Orthodoxy, and I'm concerned about making a poor impact if I go to a church service.

2017-11-11 18:43:17 UTC

It takes more devotion than low church.

2017-11-11 18:43:24 UTC

You gotta study the shit.

2017-11-11 18:45:09 UTC

You can go and talk to people there

2017-11-11 18:45:15 UTC

If you express interest

2017-11-11 18:49:17 UTC

Orthodoxy is like regular Christianity but with balls. The most black metal monk aesthetic too.

2017-11-11 19:05:48 UTC

@Flaxxer

2017-11-11 19:05:59 UTC

I would stick to ROCOR, either WR or ER.

2017-11-11 19:06:55 UTC

Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia

It was founded by White Russians, after the Revolution, then they became the official Church of liberated Russia. Many of their priests and bishops served in the German Army (Russian Free Corps or the Russian Liberation Army, mostly).

Western peoples have been cut off from Orthodoxy for almost a 1000 years, so most of the Churches are Eastern-centric. That being said, there is a big revival of Western Rite, that has been going on for a while.

Orthodoxy realizes that each people needs a Church that is centered around their ethnos. Greeks have the Greek Church, Bulgarians the Bulgarian Church, Romanians the Romanian Church, etc. Western people are slowly realizing the reawakening of the Western Churches (Celtic and French Orthodoxy are especially on the rise).
