I'm not sure
Anyone else doing any subsitence gardens this year?
I saw you guys talking about getting vetted earlier how does this work exactly?
Send any mod a message
Ahso... gotcha thanks
And maybe if my back yard wasn't a 3x6 patio in an apartment complex. I would love to once I get a house with some land though
I am using raised beds (in 18" deep x 12" wide x 19" wide plastic crates, think produce crates from your local restaraunt.
Nicd
Ah. You can do a LOT in a 3 x 6 patio. Any grass or soil?
No it's all concrete
I've seen the raised beds catching on quite a bit, any particular reason ?
Well sir, I suggest raised beds. Do it cheap - the only thing you need to invest in is good soil, soil additices, and seed/starter plants
Benefots of raised beds: let me list them.....
Yeah I guess that is a way to get around the whole no soil issue
Aeration of coil, drainage (prevent root rot) of soil, root health/spreading (great for edible plants), lower soil compaction, improved weed control (plant closer than normal, easier weeding), no-till, no root-run (where your plants content with roots from trees, other plants), easier pest control, higher yeild, ability to plant closer together,
I recommend inexpensive containers. Free 5 gallon buckets? Grow peppers, corn, tomatos, celery, etc. Smaller containers work also. I use a cheap solution for good soil: Quality organic gardening soil & Black Kow organic manure compost
Also, you can more easily manage your soil, insofar as nutrients.
Hey there.
HEY B, what's up my RPi Kneegrow?
When I get paid then I will get it.
Probably just get a HDMI cable and then something to convert the HDMI to a non HDMI setting
cheap HDMI monitors
Thanks.
no worries, i googled 'cheap hdmi monitor raspberry pi' and found that advert
Just learned a French Doctor is encouraging Rape.

Gotta get it to the Vigilante Groups.

@Hunter.S.Rabbit that's awesome I'll have to start gathering supplies
@Hunter.S.Rabbit and the 5 gallon buckets is also a good idea
Cheapest places to get building materials: Resturaunts often get produce in plastic crates/trays. You can get a ^4 pack of 12" zip ties sttach them and make a raised bed.
Hahaha yeah that's is pretty simple would've never thought of it
When I worked at Hardee's a few years ago the bread came in like 3x3 plastic crates in stacks of 10 maybe I'll stop by sometime
Drill holes in the bottoms for drainage, no need, if you're using god soil for more than 18" soil depth. So, if you can put in hooks above your patio, you can go with upside-down tomato growing... 5 gallon bucket, hole cut in bottom, plant hanging upside down out of the bucket....Maybe use a cheap trellis netting.... You can do this with any plant. Smaller buckets work also.
It would have to be a pre grown tomato plant huh? Or can you do the upside down method starting with seeds?
Make sure it is something with enough holes (if you are stacking shallow containters) that the deep roots can get around. The first 6" of root is mist important, some plants may send out roots up to 24" deep. If you're using good soil, a depth of 16-20 is A-OK for a raised bed on concrete
Nope, use a starter plant. If you like cherry tomatos, I reccomend the HUSKY varieties. 1. Check Menards for Husky breed of cherry T's., then the others, Home Depot I find is more expensive generally
