It's a thought experiment used to reason what a 'fair' society would look like

Rawls is the guy that came up with it

The short version is this: suppose none of us knew what we looked like, we would all be behind some 'veil of ignorance'

Now decide what your society looks like knowing that you could be any random individual

It's supposed to show unfair biases in society

Let's say you believe woman should not have the right to vote

Would you still believe that knowing that there is a 50% chance you could be a woman?
