The idea that Hitler was not a proficient tactician is another old cliche.
His strategies are what made them so deadly effective. Blitzkrieg was his idea. They were undefeated right up until they weren't. People seem to ignore this for some reason.
Mostly his generals all agreed with his decisions. Maybe at the end they had other ideas, I'll admit Stalingrad meant more to Hitler than it should have. He felt it was a morale boost to take the namesake and imagined it was going to go better.
