@BloodEagle what age are you? I began learning basic German when I was 10 until the age of 12, then took a break and resumed in high school. I took it for 4 years in high school and learned all the crazy grammar stuff, now it's my minor in college and we kind of just delve deeper into culture and social norms in class now. I use duo lingo to brush up on my skills when I'm not in school and it helps a ton.

I'm 17. My old school didnt offer it, so I'm in German 1 rn

If you continue with it on college you should get pretty fluent as long as you stay dedicated. A lot of people just get by with vocab, but learning the grammar and cases is the only way to become fluent.

I started to learn German, but I stopped speaking to my primary friends and sort of lost my motivation. It's difficult to make non redpilled friends tbh

I don't really plan on going to a college really so i suppose I'll have to get books or something

If you scour the internet you can find some good textbooks cheap and some come with exercise access codes. Duo lingo is good for when you want something more fun and don't feel like cracking a textbook open though.
