i've got a really good preamp and that's it, it's all amp/cabinet/guitar pedal sims
i don't even own a guitar/bass amp

I've been using the same amp for like 8 or 9 years now
i always record clean signal and then use real-time effects to sculpt the sound
that will change as i bought 2 guitar pedals recently, they're currently en route

It's a great first guitar but if you stick with the hobby it's definitely required to upgrade
my first guitar, it's really not too bad for the price (certainly better than entry-level gear by more esteemed companies) but i'd have to, like, swap the pick-ups and the tuners
it's a strat, so single-coil pickups - no distortion for you

Single coils can have good distortion but it really depends on what kind of distortion you're looking for
not just crunch
