I was reading Richard McGregor

The Party: The Secret World of China's Communist Rulers

This was supposed to give some info on the "Jiang faction" thay I saw people crying about on some chats

2017-06-25 13:05:34 UTC

Think it's best to just switch straight to the one you sent?

2017-06-25 23:28:07 UTC

you should read all of them

2017-06-25 23:28:16 UTC

or whichever ones you're comfortable with

2017-06-26 19:26:07 UTC

@Deleted User I plan to but didn't know which would be best to start with. Probably doesn't matter though

2017-06-26 19:26:41 UTC

it doesn't

2017-06-26 19:26:54 UTC

you should continue with what you're already reading

2017-06-26 19:29:48 UTC

Thanks will do

The guo wengui stuff I read recently really motivated me to want to study the politics itself more closely(or what you can see of it)

2017-06-26 19:33:39 UTC

american plot to destabilize china tbh

2017-06-26 19:36:56 UTC

That's the initial feeling I had that the cia was behind it. The timing before the 2017 party conference(?) Is too suspicious, but it is still very interesting

read some of Sun Yat Sens works as well

2017-07-04 01:55:32 UTC

This book by Cheng Li is a pretty rough read. I started to skip around once I got to the Education chapter. I am now reading about more about Factions. Very interesting stuff. Definitely didn't think abpout this aspect of very differing factions oddly

2017-07-04 10:01:47 UTC

no problem

2017-07-04 10:01:51 UTC

glad you are enjoying it

2017-07-04 10:05:32 UTC

@Jonn read this as well. it is absolutely paramount to understanding chinese history.

2017-07-04 10:06:10 UTC

it is debated today even wether sun yat sen would have preffered socialism or nationalism, so it is still very very important

2017-07-04 11:49:29 UTC

Thanks

Wew from cheng li's book. The Hu camp seems to have the younger generation of the party locked up heavily. This next decade will be very interesting

mmh

2017-07-04 13:11:51 UTC

we'll see

2017-07-04 14:02:16 UTC

Yeah I just read their educational background for the Hu camp. That isn't a good setup to run a nation. I'm excited to read the three principles of the people if it helps to get a better understanding. This Ching Li book is very informative for learning about the government structure and current positions of the government, but it still feels like that insider feel to get a better grasp of the society/governing society is missing. I guess that is difficult to do with something as opaque as the Chinese government though. His book isn't trying to do that either and it succeeds in what it is trying. I am just starting the Protege section now

Thank you very much for these book recommendations
