maybe my experience was an outlier
"Religion" only exists in ethnic trad communities, it's not a mainstream thing anymore. Anyone who calls themselves "religious" is just "culturally Christian" but otherwise religiously agnostic.
The very few that don't fall into those categories moved as far away as possible, went to college, and are fully career oriented, or are married. Good for them (minus the career, no family).
