Spend $1300 / $1500 on gen 2.

If you're dropping $1300/1500 on nods, spend $100 on a purpose built IR filter or $300 on a good illuminator. $400 is a good dual beam laser.

I only say not to ghetto rig something like a filter because if it's done improperly, you'll give off your position with visible light.
