ARs are way easier to build because you can buy parts kits and they go together relatively easily. AKs on the other hand require significant investment in tools needs to build one, including a 12 ton press. That's why building AKs is way more expensive

Chances are it's probably in the middle of the night so it's dark and you can use that to your advantage as well.
