People make too many arguments based on on percentages when, according to the forseeable timeline, democracy and voting are not going to be nearly worth as much as the quality and strength of your community.

They also vasltly underestimate the amount of foreigners that would outright flee the territory of the nation if it was no longer economically advantageous to them, or even if they lost their rights as a protected class.

@Fash Gordon UT I agree. Also, as I've said, the territory map of the Balkanization, or whatever you would call it, is going to look a lot like the electoral one. Especially since the state govts have become so, so negated compared to the federal, and community governance is something that will happen no matter what. You're going to get, from that mass of territory, strongholds here and there, and it's going to be a wide spanning network of these communities that are somewhat autonomous, and responsible for self defense.

The heirarchy of identity will climb down the same ladder it went up. It will go from documents and ideas, to people, to communities bound by the central will to survive that the nation shares.

The Unites States as a govt won't survive, not as we know it, but the local systems of self-governing and the communities in that red there will. From there it isn't conventional warfare anymore than it is cultural.

Once the federal govt becomes dysfunctional enough to really start hemmoraging legitimacy, it's going to be a race to fulfill claims by all sides before other foreign powers like China end up in charge with proxy businessmen oligarchs.

And once that legitimacy is faded to some point, and democracy has another notch in its belt of ruined nations and peoples, percentages of demographics won't matter as much as power does.

South Africa usually isn't an example to follow, I am aware, but a very very small minority of Boers and Afrikaners effectively ruled and sustained a society because they had power, and voting was not in the picture. The failure came once power was a matter of counting heads.
