I don't know if it was a coordinate effort by anyone, but it's certainly a gold mine for the media, its heads, and the Democratic candidates. It provides talking points and political activism that would further their agenda of demonizing gun owners and organizations, and pull attention away from other real things going on in the country (i.e. Epstein, as Pepe already mentioned).

I think it's a converted effort from the Anti Gun lobby to organize, or at least blow out of proportion, these latest mass shootings in order to try to win over the American people on guns.
