yes, its a good safeguard against gentlemans club cults like scientology and keeps some money out of corrupt religious leaders

@everyone Daily Question 🔖

- What is the ideal power system between local governments and federal governments? (i.e federalism, Unitarianism, confederalism, etc)

2019-10-20 00:20:38 UTC

Anarchism

2019-10-20 00:20:52 UTC

and

2019-10-20 00:20:54 UTC

death

2019-10-20 00:21:01 UTC

Anarchism is unironically the worst system ever though of in human history

2019-10-20 00:21:26 UTC

Anyways

2019-10-20 00:21:30 UTC

Unitarianism is the way to go

2019-10-20 00:21:31 UTC

Federalist, with a stronger national government than localized government.

2019-10-20 00:21:35 UTC

No local power

2019-10-20 00:21:56 UTC

No regional autonomy

2019-10-20 00:22:19 UTC

Then local problems don't get recognised thus they begin to fall back when it comes to capital cities and other majority cities

2019-10-20 00:22:41 UTC

Localization is good for subdividing power and keeping things balanced to the area with the right tools. If all you have is a hammer, you’re going to use it on all your problems. Local governments act as a metaphorical toolkit.

2019-10-20 00:22:56 UTC

I'm dabbling with federalism and seeing it would work with the UKMso I'll get back to you on that one

2019-10-20 00:23:38 UTC
2019-10-20 00:24:06 UTC

Local problems are ignored more in local government than in federal government

2019-10-20 00:24:44 UTC

Have a local problem? File a complaint with the government and it'll be taken care of.

2019-10-20 00:26:02 UTC

Then make local problems a local government priority central government should be for the nation

2019-10-20 00:28:44 UTC

@sandwitch How do you ensure local identity dosent exist

2019-10-20 00:29:16 UTC

?

2019-10-20 00:30:47 UTC

@sandwitch Giving autonomy to regional governments may lead to rebellion, regional identity, etc

2019-10-20 00:32:49 UTC

Ah I see

2019-10-20 00:34:07 UTC

I'll use the UK as an example because a lot of people sort of want independence from us like Cornwall for some reason

2019-10-20 00:34:49 UTC

So maybe teach children about unity, make sure representatives have all their voices heard

2019-10-20 00:35:24 UTC

True, let China keep control of hong king, Tibet, uighars, etc

2019-10-20 00:35:26 UTC

Very woke

2019-10-20 00:36:16 UTC

Yeah you really can't stop people from feeling linked to where they are born

2019-10-20 00:37:03 UTC

Nothing wrong with regional identity. Humans are meant to live in small communities, and having bigger systems with more control isolates everyone

2019-10-20 00:37:12 UTC

^

2019-10-20 00:37:20 UTC

Take London for example

2019-10-20 00:37:57 UTC

No federal government

2019-10-20 00:38:01 UTC

London's a great place but if you look up to the North of England you see the disparity

2019-10-20 00:38:36 UTC

Federal government should be there to help negotiate with inter regional issues and international issues

2019-10-20 00:38:41 UTC

^

2019-10-20 00:39:39 UTC

It should be a voluntary choice to be a part of a federal beuracracy

2019-10-20 00:39:48 UTC

If states see a value in it, they will join

2019-10-20 00:40:12 UTC

If it serves them little purpose and just centralizes power for itself, states can leave

2019-10-20 00:41:28 UTC

Otherwise you get people like the Chinese President who said he will destroy the bodies of people who try to have states want to leave China, and turn their bones to dust

2019-10-20 00:41:32 UTC

Shut up libertarian

2019-10-20 00:41:41 UTC

Thats not a valid argument

2019-10-20 00:41:46 UTC

Name calling
