Government is very inefficient with many things. The public and private mix that currently exists in the US is what drives up prices. Subsidized medicine with greedy individuals halts innovation and competition. The government should slowly begin to pull out of the sphere of healthcare and leave it to ambitious people to provide.

On the other hand, there is evidence that without an incentive, laborers work less as they aren't being rewarded for their labor. In terms of a nationalized medical system, one could assume that it'd be of poorer quality.

But in terms of medical aid, what would you gain other than material wealth? You aren't building something that will be used, or for self advancement or enjoyment. You're just caring for another person. Now one could say that their life could impact yours, perhaps they are a firefighter who was injured. By saving their life you might end up being rescued from a fire in your house later on. But what do you directly gain from enacting such care is the question..

Well personally I think everyone deserves a chance for care(except those who commit bodily harm on purpose, or get hurt doing the same thing multiple times, because at that point you really should just stop doing whatever that thing is..). But I also think that every worker deserves fair reward for their labor.

Rewarding the worker for their effort is fine but rampant individualism is what got us into this mess in the first place.

I am not even certain how do both private and public healthcare work. Even if we set aside the moral arguments for or against public healthcare, there is also the question of efficiency, innovation, and cost in the long term. @ChillyWilly

there are many effective, and ineffective version of public healthcare

An example in favor of a privatized system is in the sector of laser eye surgery. A few decades ago, it was incredibly expensive. The price for laser eye surgery has decreased by magnitudes. What used to be at least $20k when under the government's thumb has dropped to less than 25% of that after years of innovation and privatization.
