I'm all for advancement. It's silly to ignore the march forward of technology and such...but i think we've hit the point where we realize that something that is new is not, inherently, better then what is old. We gave up our hearts and souls to those who told us they'd help us poor, backward blue collars, and when we offered up our industry, our farms, our families and traditions, they said "thank god, now we can get all that old nonsense away". We found ourselves, instead of the hard-working backbone of a nation, the fat, backward husk of a bygone and buried life. The butt of the jokes of a thousand twittering, coddled and tanned elites.
Hey, is there file sharing around here? I think we could all use a set of the Foxfire books...
@rustpoet not that I know of no
Made this, it is not the best, but it is a start.
haha I like it
If you don't know what these are, the Foxfire books are a collection of wisdom from the old timers, the ones who used to make...well, everything. From homes to moonshine, from soap to faith healing, it shows everything that...well...we've lost. I strongly, STRONGLY advise you all to snap them up (they're in PDF links at the top) if only to see the way things were.
Ill def check them out on my computer. My phone wont open them
It wasn't always like how it is. We used to just...do things. Want honey? Go find bees. Need a chair? Fucking build one, or find a buddy who knows, and trade with him. It's amazing seeing that we didn't always need a nanny over us making sure we were all cared for. Stay with me now, but we used to actually take care of ourselves! Even when we started up with factories and cities, we still had a community that actually meant something beyond a buzzword.
Yeah dude. Ive been thinking about stuff like that recently. I think a big part of why we've let our cities, towns, cultures, etc fall apart is that lack of community. Id like to use this group to get some more community stuff going, because I believe once we kind of group together and are more concious of common goals and improvement we'll see the (((problems))) clear as day
Its far less about socialist vs capitalist and much more about the fact that people dont care about people around them so theyre willing to fuck each other over.
We used to let our kids play. We let them go out and roam around with their fellows, to go to other homes and the woods and fields. It's because we trusted eachother. We knew our fellows, our friends and kin, and knew they'd be safe. We used to care for our old and sick, because they were ours, and it's what we did. You run the man next door some bread and soup when he's feeling low, and when your tv antenna busts, he comes by with a ladder and a welding torch.
The big problem is Media.
The media has learned to brainwash the people to not trust one another.
We used to support eachother, we didn't need all the oversight, the laws and the regulations and the structure. We helped eachother because it was the right damn thing to do. We let people in...but slowly, carefully, in small drips and drops. If they don't mesh...then they don't mesh. Now we have to have all this structure to force everyone to get along, because otherwise we'll try and be kind and neighborly, and our new diverse fellows will bleed us dry.
Like i said...Harvest Moon with wifi, that's all I really want.
On thing I have to ask.
In the midwest itself do you see a lot of people who like the 80s style
Alright all, Im logging off for the night. thanks to everyone for the work theyve put in and welcome to all the new members.
just a reminder to all unvetted people and those who have been quite for some time, Ill be setting up Skype chats soon with all of you for final vetting. refusal to do so will result in a ban.
There are places in the midwest where they are unaware the 80s ever stopped...
Get some rest indy, gonna be hot again tomarrow, strength and faith to ya.
good night indy
Got a question for you lads (i assume lads anyway) which would you rather: Work for your pay, go out to the supermarket, and buy up some steak for dinner. Or have a buddy who's raising bees, so you lend a hand and garage to cook up mead for half the run, then take a portion of your half to get a portion of venison from a hunter buddy?
Honest, now, honest
If I could just walk up to a farmer or hunter for food I would
Trade or pay. USDA does more harm then good
Sounds a lot more fulfilling, but it would be hard changing our current ways.
God, an't that the truth. I'm all for safety, sure, but if i want to drive a half our out to a hog farm and buy half a carcass, i should be able to. If i want i should be able to just work something out with the family up the road where he gives me some eggs each week and i give him tomatoes. Mad thing? you can't do what i just described in a majority of the states without breaking the law.
Not saying we should roll back to the damn barter system, hell no, but there's no good solid reason to regulate or restrict stuff like that other then sheer busybody-ness
take care of more of your needs yourself, or through community, frees up more of that cold hard cash for other things. Probably why you're not allowed to do it, now that i think of it...
Well we can't have you being self-sufficient. How else can you buy stuff to support a third world country's economy.
Remember we need to welfare the world.
And they're oh so appreciative too. It's when i see people saying "trump's making you a laughingstock of the world!". Goddammit, we've been that since...fucking forever, we're supposed to care now suddenly? "you voted against your own interests!". what are those? the things that led us to becoming a dystopia? That led us down the path fifty years ago that Europe is just now finding themselves on?
What would Israel do if we stop giving them our money!? Such a peaceful and sovereign nation only with wishes to exist. The Jews need their genocidal, zionist, empire.
