If you can depend on your fellows and family for things like, say, food, shelter, aid and even care for the sick and elderly, why do you need a complex nannystate to do it for you? If you can make for yourself, why do you need to buy the state approved prepackage goods? I'm not saying I hate america, i really don't, and i hope and pray it can unfuck itself, but we've gotten so whipped up that we need to be coddled and cared for it's just pathetic. We're some of the last states with any kind of real ability to make our own way, who still remember. It's why i'm here, even if this shit all falls apart.

2017-07-29 01:53:04 UTC

i imagine most of us here already have that, thank god

2017-07-29 01:54:43 UTC

It's heartening to know that there's others out there, truly. I've been feeling slowly more insane the more i question what it is the world seems to want me to become. Even this small collection of bad goys is very heartening.

2017-07-29 01:55:58 UTC

good to hear

2017-07-29 01:58:51 UTC

Imagine going back to letting kids play outside. Where you could walk around your neighborhood, say hi, even drop in for a visit if you wanted. Where you could plant a garden without getting a license. Where you don't have to worry about keeping windows and doors closed up because you don't know who or what might peek in, or worse. Where, if you wanted privacy, if you wanted to just close up and be alone for a bit, people left you the fuck alone, rather then trying to pry in to why you're doing that, what you're hiding. It's such simple stuff, but if i started touting this stuff in public tomarrow, i'd likely make the news, and not for any good reason.

2017-07-29 02:00:17 UTC

yea, I remember it being more like that in the past, I'm aware that sounds stupid given my age but still

2017-07-29 02:02:19 UTC

It's not, really. It's happening faster and faster. Nostalgia makes everything sweeter, sure, but I remember just a few years ago, you didn't have to worry about so much. Now, if you bump into the wrong person on the street, you could get beaten up and told to apologize for being a bigot. it's insane.

2017-07-29 02:02:43 UTC

Same @Norden_Dunkel
It's amazing how much things have changed even within the past decade

2017-07-29 02:03:00 UTC

it all depends where you are really, but the trends are still a thing

2017-07-29 02:03:25 UTC

@knc217 yea I'm only 16 and I can see a change

2017-07-29 02:04:24 UTC

Out in the boonies of the midwest it's not changed much, but the closer you get to the cities and such, it shows. Like...I remember when detroit was functional. Always a rough town, sure, but you could walk around and not worry. They had culture still, some sense of dignity. Now...not so much.

2017-07-29 02:05:23 UTC

Non globalized culture is dying everyday

2017-07-29 02:05:32 UTC

I live in the suburbs of what used to be one of the best cities in Ohio. Now it's just a rundown drug haven.
The city, not my town

2017-07-29 02:06:06 UTC

ah, I'm near southbend and their school system is practically third world

2017-07-29 02:06:18 UTC

we all live in the ashes of what was once great. And we get told that, somehow, it's all our fault.

2017-07-29 02:07:21 UTC

Said it before, say it again: Harvest Moon with Wifi, that's all i really want out of life, lattes, kabobs and flatscreens can jump off a bridge...

2017-07-29 02:07:44 UTC

lol

2017-07-29 02:07:52 UTC

Back in the early 1900s, Dayton was amazing. We developed the airplane, built a beautiful city...and now we're a literal drug testing market for illegals with schools that have been failing for God knows how long.

2017-07-29 02:08:04 UTC

Lol nice

2017-07-29 02:08:31 UTC

How do you like this pepe?

2017-07-29 02:08:36 UTC

I've been past Dayton before and it was pretty much a grey dull area. Empty streets with nobody outside.

2017-07-29 02:08:57 UTC

Not bad at all memelord

2017-07-29 02:09:03 UTC

2017-07-29 02:09:55 UTC

Looks great @Waterdog

2017-07-29 02:10:26 UTC

@HoosierShitposter Yeah there are a few nice areas (Carillon Park is beautiful), but it's mostly horrible

2017-07-29 02:11:35 UTC

If you want to do some ones that could really spark reactions, do shots of the former great cities overlaid. Half from, say, the 1920s, and the other half current. So many don't understand how bad places like detroit are until they see them...

2017-07-29 02:12:20 UTC

sometimes thats not enough
