Today was a shit day at work. My old general manager was transferred to another store and 2 managers got promoted yesterday(One of them is our new gm) AND TODAY... THE SUPERVISOR WAS BEING A BITCH TO EVERYBODY! IT GOT SO BAD THAT ONE PERSON GOT FIRED! I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA GET FIRED BECAUSE THE SUPERVISOR GOT ON MY CASE FOR IMPROPERLY WASHING MY HANDS(I WAS UNAWARE OF THE METHOD SHE YELLED AT ME TO USE AND THROWING IT IN MY FACE THAT I WAS CROSS CONTAMINATING STRAIGHT AFTER WASHING MY HANDS BECAUSE I DIDN'T USE A PAPER TOWEL TO CLOSE THE WATER) And on top of THAT ... A customer decided to be an ass with me and call me white just because I don't don't know spanish.. I'M BROWN! I GOT A FUCKING NOPAL ON MY FOREHEAD(Nopal meaning cactus and it's metaphor we use) LOOK AT WHERE I WORK, ASSHOLE! LOOK AT MY UNIFORM! IF I WERE WHITE, HOW THE HELL WOULD I AFFORD TO BE THIS BROWN?! HOW CAN I AFFORD A FAKE TAN WITH THE JOB I HAVE?! I HATE THE STIGMA THAT MEXICAN CITIZENS HAVE THAT THEY BELIEVE THAT IF YOU ARE BROWN, YOU /HAVE/ TO KNOW SPANISH AND IF YOU ARE BROWN AND YOU DON'T THEN YOU ARE SHUNNED!

My mother had a similar problem nine years ago over an asshole supervisor as she recently told me. She has since changed jobs years later.

I grew up around many Hispanics of various ancestries and I have never heard _nopal_ used as an idiom. I know a lot of Spanish.

Closest thing to spanish I know is the *insert restaurant that bastardizes spanish food here* menu.

Keep in mind that the city I live in that has a lot of Hispanics is still majority white.
