If you were the woman (or the man) in the comic, how would you deal with the sealion?
A) Explain why you don't like sealions.
B) Retract and apologize for lying, or say it was a joke or mistake or whatever.
C) Cry about someone demanding proof, sources or arguments as to why sealions are evil.

2019-11-08 02:19:00 UTC

Because the people who think "sealioning" is a thing, think C) is valid way of proving your point.

2019-11-08 02:19:34 UTC

i might say something, someone asks for proof, and i dont feel like going into it

2019-11-08 02:19:56 UTC

because otherwise its probably an hour of time i had planned doin something else

2019-11-08 02:20:21 UTC

could say 'well you shouldnt have brought up the possibility' but eh

2019-11-08 02:20:45 UTC

I mean, I understand being kristiwinterized.

2019-11-08 02:21:03 UTC

Meaning, someone asks proof of something self-evident, just to wear you down.

2019-11-08 02:21:44 UTC

Like MSM has left-wing bias. Obvious, but difficult to prove since bias is not quantifiable in numbers, mathematics and scientific proof.

2019-11-08 02:22:05 UTC

had that before

2019-11-08 02:22:22 UTC

i said to a guy 'MSM, social media, and education are lefty as fuck'

2019-11-08 02:22:28 UTC

"YouTube has a right-wing bias." -David Packman

2019-11-08 02:22:48 UTC

and i linked him a twitter post of someone saying twitter was operated by nazis, because they were frustrated and quit the platform

2019-11-08 02:22:57 UTC

and he was confused on why i was mocking it

2019-11-08 02:23:26 UTC

and the only places that would have proof or evidence of left wing bias are sites with right wing bias

2019-11-08 02:23:31 UTC

which are instantly discredited

2019-11-08 02:23:44 UTC

its like quoting the bible as the authority, to an atheist

2019-11-08 02:24:14 UTC

and it goes both ways, so who the fuck does anyone believe

2019-11-08 02:24:36 UTC

unless you do your own research with history and law and the more objective things

2019-11-08 02:24:46 UTC

but then other people have to consider you a valid authority

2019-11-08 02:25:41 UTC

i use history and psychology where i can to base my beliefs

2019-11-08 02:25:41 UTC

"I'm right, you're wrong, and I don't want my entire worldview to come into question." -someone, somewhere on the Internet.

2019-11-08 02:25:50 UTC

pretty much

2019-11-08 02:26:02 UTC

you have to make SOME level of impact

2019-11-08 02:26:10 UTC

but not so much that they snap and reject

2019-11-08 02:26:24 UTC

not so little that they barely even know you said anything

2019-11-08 02:26:40 UTC

probably why its harder to argue with men

2019-11-08 02:26:53 UTC

and probably why theres fewer women in debate positions

2019-11-08 02:28:57 UTC

I remember in my senior year of high school, I took AP World History, and one of our topics was how Muslim women were not oppressed. I didn't bother to say anything, but some other girl in my class did. It was basically her vs. the teacher. You could not even question the idea that no Muslim woman is oppressed.

2019-11-08 02:29:29 UTC

In hindsight, I should have said something, but the teacher also had access to my grades.

2019-11-08 02:30:09 UTC

David Packman is fucking stupid

2019-11-08 02:30:21 UTC

Cooperate to Graduate

2019-11-08 02:30:28 UTC

This is why I'm curious of when it's a good idea to step in and voice your opinion, even if someone with more authority than you.

2019-11-08 02:30:29 UTC

'muslim women arent oppressed'

2019-11-08 02:30:33 UTC

>google muslim women

2019-11-08 02:30:40 UTC

Fuck cooperation that teacher is a dumb bitching lying to the youth

2019-11-08 02:30:54 UTC

I understand not speaking up but Godspeed to the femoid

2019-11-08 02:31:11 UTC

To be fair, I could see sealioning as a legit concept. If you're a dick for so long and then pretend to be nice just to troll people, I wouldn't expect them to take you seriously and so you'd have to work extra hard to convince them you're acting in good faith.

The problem lies in painting someone as a sealion when they HAVEN'T been a dick to you.

2019-11-08 02:31:29 UTC

After the class watched some video about how the hijab is a choice, we all had to write if our opinion on the topic changed.

2019-11-08 02:31:35 UTC

In this particular case she’s supposed to educate kids but she lied to them

2019-11-08 02:31:51 UTC

That’s a big no no and it breaks the social contract between teacher and student
