The issue is that they are freaking heavy to hold in the first place

I’ve fired a .50 Beowulf round, not as bad of recoil as I thought it would be
@SkeF recoil is a summary of the powder load and bullet mass. Beowulf is not as hot loaded as the .50BMG
And there are loadings even hotter than .50 BMG standard
Also your recoil depends on the barrel length too - the longer the barrel the more you will get from it, but compared to the load size that difference is small

Of note, the B means belted.
So the 20mm in that pic is shorter than what the L-39 fires
