Doesn't cover what they were demanding, what debts does the second largest CONTRIBUTER have in the EU? The UK has a net loss from the deal. If there are any debts it's what the EU owes the UK
We signed up for the EU's budget framework when we became a member. We agreed to pay a percentage of that YEARLY budget.
This is something we signed into law.
A percentage of an arbitrary budget that they inflated just to screw brexit
A budget which is agreed upon and signed by the EU parliament and then by us, the member state.
This is a budget which has already been agreed upon.
And we allowed.
Else, we would have veto'd it
The budget they are demanding be paid on was decided after brexit was voted on
There's the 2016 budget for one.
Which we agreed upon before the referendum
We're still paying into the EU budget now.
*Or should be at least*
Only till the end of October
The budget is just ONE point
If you are
In which we will have to pay
We have other obligations in the EU
There's no enforceable obligations to an undemocratic union, the worst they can do is take it out on the countries still in. They literally can't hurt the UK once they leave.
"undemocratic union"
We voted to join.
We voted to leave.
We have influence in it.
You vote on parliament
So you can fuck off with that leaver BS.
Who has no actual power
False.
"They literally can't hurt the UK once they leave."
Yes, they can.
How
AND, we can hurt ourselves in the process
How
Tariffs on our goods
Increased restrictions
Sell elsewhere, buy elsewhere
Making operating between the two entities more expensive and costly.
Not always that simple
Over 100 countries not in the EU waiting for a chance to deal with the UK
If we don't pay the divorce bill, we will be hurting ourselves
By not upholding our obligations
