My entire argument is that Oklahoma Gas and Electric should have to accept competition from rival corporations, and the way we encourage that is lowering the cost barrier.
how?
they cannot because each person would have only a single line to receive power
Homes that only hook up to OG&E will still be covered by the "can't fuck over your customers" monopoly regulations, but in areas where it makes sense to do so a rival could set up their own grid and begin expanding into OG&E's turf.
so who ever OWNS that line, is their provider
no choice = no competition
Hence the monopoly regs would remain.
...but they would only be relevant in areas where it's actually a monopoly.

again, in order to have competition in one market, production, the distribution must be shared
they are mutually exclusive incentives yet interconnected
No. Just allow someone to build a power plant and run their own lines.
Don't double the cost of such a project by charging absurd access fees.
this is the SAME when it comes to high profit incentives to DEVELOP drugs but also incentives to manufacture efficently; if you own the patent, you don't share it with all the manufacters
so the price stays high
I know you can't hear it, but on wallpaper engine I found a wallpaper that's just Carl screaming FABIAN on infinite loop. 10/10 https://gyazo.com/8ef36302a13ff218b7880eb5604cc446
u CANNOT allow other lines
You're acting like a single house couldn't have a choice of four or five different electrical lines to hook up to, where each line corresponds to a different power company.
you have no CLUE how expensive and complicated it would make power disitribution
Yeah, it's expensive. That's already a barrier.
Then we double the cost yet again through local fees and regs.
Which means monopolies are all but guaranteed.
technicallly not feasible because the interconnectivity of the grid is what makes it WORK
no interconnectivy? no load sharing.
I'm not pretending that if you allow new power companies, that everything will be peachy and everyone's gonna have five different electric companies to choose from. A large number of people are still going to be stuck with the original power company, and that's why the monopoly regs have to be kept.
if we could store power, that would be different but then who would need a grid?
power is 'on demand'
it doesn't just sit on the grid until u use it
*zoomer gang rise up*
Yeah, it is on demand.
You adjust the power output accordingly.

who adjusts output?
It's not like you build a power plant and just run it on 100% all the fucking time.
