π Goodbye. You lost.
>break the law
I don't know how much clearer I have to make this. the parent has rights, the child does not
Corporal punishment is frowned upon, not illegal.
its not breaking the law for a parent to take their child by the arm and compell them to comply with their demands
>page search for "child"
oh look, not in the language of the law
#ImagineMyShock
"Unlawful detention means keeping in custody unlawfully. Under criminal law it means keeping or confining a person in custody without any lawful reason."
>That's breaking the law
Oh so he's okay with laws against physical abuse.
Imagine not being able to read the first two lines
<:pot_of_kek:544849795433496586>
But other laws are "statist"
Nice try. π
page search for "minor", also nothing
what π part π of π kids π are π not π afforded π equal π rights π to π adults π is π not π clear π
they are not emancipated under the law until they are 18
the premise of the novel "unwind"
short of physically or mentally maiming or killing them, the parents are within their right to compel their child to comply
This may differ from how it works in "bjΓΈrkville" scandiwegia or wherever the fuck you are, but that's how it works in the US
its such an oversimplified 90 IQ argument to say "hurr they can just say no." An argument that denies that children are _different_ than adults, and that they need special protections because of their VULNERABILITY, both physical and mental/emotional vulnerability..
and the fact they aren't afforded even a fraction of the rights as their parents when it comes to shit like self-determination
does @Nathan James 123 (the anarchist) think kids should vote too?
It is the same reason why the child soes not effectively pick their school nor their doctors nor their meals. Their input can be gathered and contemplated but they have no responsibility yet.
Who wants children liable for conplicated decisions that oftentimes even adults don't fully understand or think about the related factors or consequences.
We have adults acting like children who can't take responsibility for themselves. Last thing I want is *actual* children (physically as well as mentally) deciding on surgical procedures or hormone therapies. Anything like that prior to complete puberty maturation is biological abuse.
*Regardless* of how you view the issue of transgenderism
Not that the child is the one with an apparent desire in this case.
Which is pretty fucking important for any alleged 'pro' argument for the mom
Now I return to lurk and take my exams for the day
@Imaorange I too will lurk as I finish prepping for exams.
Good luck to you in this brutal midterm season.
yeah, finally off my anxiety pain-couch and filling out FAFSA
oh you guys aren't wagecucks yet?
Quite quite. Upper division kicking in. Pressure loops and hip anatomy reeee
I've had real jobs before. I'm an engineer. Worked as an R&D Engineer for the past two years. I'm back in school because I'm all about that MD/PhD life now
damn, what a story
Best of luck to you
I'm actually highly interested in medicine. I'm a chemical/biological engineer by trade. Worked on some pharamacuaticals and caught the bug for tying in clinical research
Thanks for the luck.
I'm scared
Shit like this has me really freaked out.
I'm actually thinking about interning at one of these Gender clinics in SoCal this summer to get a mental grasp on this stuff
my dads a doctor, but he didn't go the m.d. phd route. Any way you can just get the m.d ?
