Toweri you mean this

2017-06-04 17:35:42 UTC

yeah

2017-06-04 17:36:43 UTC

It's a novel but it explores what Huxley considered a utopia. Sort of the opposite of his "The brave new world".

2017-06-04 17:42:02 UTC

wow

2017-06-04 17:42:41 UTC

It's like a liberal paradise lol

2017-06-04 17:42:51 UTC

Oh no

2017-06-04 17:43:01 UTC

LOl

2017-06-04 17:43:18 UTC

Kill it

2017-06-04 17:43:19 UTC

It's not as bad as you think tho.

2017-06-04 17:43:28 UTC

👌🏼

2017-06-04 17:43:33 UTC

Huxley was a leftist

2017-06-04 17:43:40 UTC

Oh wow

2017-06-04 17:49:04 UTC

He explores how science and religion, work and leisure etc etc can be balanced and how cooperation rather than competition can lead to a healthy society. Psychedelics and psychology are a big part of it as well. Like how indoctrination, given that raising kids is always indoctrination in one way or another, can be useful ( as opposed to how indoctrination was used in the brave new wolrd). It's also a criticism of certain western attitudes and values and how they affect society. I should re-read it tbh but that's what I remember.

Here me when I was a baby

2017-06-04 18:07:40 UTC

Yo

2017-06-04 18:07:56 UTC

Hello

2017-06-04 18:08:21 UTC

I see that I missed a conversation about based Huxley. Shame.

2017-06-04 18:09:15 UTC

Lol they named second Civ V add-on after his book, I wonder why

2017-06-04 18:09:40 UTC

I'm curious too.

2017-06-04 18:10:13 UTC

I don't believe utopias can exist, mind but I think it'd be possible to get close.

2017-06-04 18:10:30 UTC

Or, at the very least, better than the dumpster fire known as modern civilization.

2017-06-04 18:13:37 UTC

Oh god

2017-06-04 18:13:55 UTC

I was in the huxley conversation

2017-06-04 18:14:53 UTC

I still have to read that book.

2017-06-04 18:15:28 UTC

It might help my arguments since I consider the world of Brave New World to be close to a utopia

2017-06-04 18:17:16 UTC

mkay

2017-06-04 18:17:38 UTC

So apparently Huxley was closer to modern regimes than Orwell? Or both were right?

2017-06-04 18:18:07 UTC

He's closer to modern regimes, yeah.

2017-06-04 18:18:20 UTC

Frankly, it's a pretty smart way to tame the human beast.

2017-06-04 18:18:20 UTC

screw me

2017-06-04 18:18:27 UTC

Kill them with kindness.

2017-06-04 18:18:43 UTC

Make them complacent, comfortable and lazy.

2017-06-04 18:19:31 UTC

2017-06-04 18:25:33 UTC
