Thoughts on Catalan independence:
I've seen many comrades have arguments about the importance of Catalonia in the name of socialism and communism. For me, I fully support their independence for 2 reasons.
1. The independence movement isn't only built on nationalism and patriotism but it is essentially a protest against the Spanish government and monarch. The extreme violence taken place in Catalonia during the referendum proves their case and it is indeed a viable one.
2. This is my main reason. The Catalan workers are better able to improve issues like workers' rights. Instead of having to go through the Catalonian politicians, then the Spanish parliament, then the European parliament. If Catalonia doesn't join the EU, which is possible however I'm not too sure about; it would be an amazing achievement for Catalan workers. Currently workers in Catalonia are being oppressed by both their local government as well as the national government of Spain. As well as the money from there going to the entirety of the upper class/politicians who are exploiting the richness of Catalonia. Having less obstacles in front of them is good, also there are significant, even if few, left wing parties within their parliament which I would only imagine would increase in votes after their independence (Mainly due to the stigma of an independent Catalonia being the main driving force of the right-wing/centre parties.).
TL;DR Viva la Catalonia!
